Kol Ramat Hasharon 106FM (www.106fm.org),

Tonight's show was a first show for me at a new venue -
Radio Kol Ramat Hasharon (www.106fm.org) which is part of a nationwide educational
radio network that is run by students in various schools.

I dedicated the show to the recently departed Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor (1928-2009)
(who happens to share the same birthday with me- Sept. 28th),
I also introduced the new audience to two ladies that I think could be the next
"Queen of the Blues" - Diunna Greenleaf from Houston,TX, and Lady Bianca from
Oakland, CA. I also threw in the dynamic Glen Terry from Australia, and the Israeli born Guy King
who has been making us proud in the Chicago Blues scene.

Eli's Blues, A Special Tribute to Odetta on Israel Radio A Channel
Friday, December 26, 2008, 07:00-08:00 AM

Two weeks after Odetta passed away, I got a call from the A Channel on
Israel public radio, asking me to help put together a show in tribute
of the late great Odetta.
I grew up with folk music in my house, and Odetta already had
legendary status by the time I started playing folk music myself on
the guitar in the early 1970's.
In the summer of 1980 I was working as a stage hand at the Toronto
Folk Festival and I had the privilege of meeting the great Odetta as I
accompanied her across the fair grounds from the artist's tent, and
help her on stage to hear her sing.
What a mighty woman, what a mighty voice, they will both be sadly missed.
Rest In Peace Odetta 1930-2008, your work is done down here.
